I just received a beautiful pair of Lons sneakers (see above) from Skye Footwear and I’m absolutely ENCHANTED by these shoes! I have been a devoted fan of Native Shoes for a while, which have similar features to Skye, but Skye definitely take comfort to a whole new level.
What is Skye Footwear and where are they from?
Skye Footwear is a start-up footwear brand from Vancouver (British Columbia), Canada that was conceived in March 2015. In October 2016, they launched their first Indiegogo campaign, and are promising consumers pairs from their first production batch in the spring of 2017.
What makes Skye different from other footwear brands that market their shoes as lighter and more comfortable for your over-worked feet?
(Disclaimer: I’m comparing these shoes more specifically to Native Shoes)
- The Impact and Rebound Sole:
- The Bungee-Hold Laces:
- The Form-Fitting Fabric:
Another feature that’s great about Skye, but is also present in Native Shoes is the weight. Both brands are super lightweight. My Native Shoes (similar sized model to the pair of Skye’s) are marginally lighter in weight than Skye, but this is probably due to the fact that Skye shoes have a built-in gel and spring insole, which may add a bit of weight to the shoe.
The styles in the inaugural collection are as follows:
- The Lons: loafer-sneaker style
- The Rbutus: runner style
- The Powll: desert boot style
The specific style I got was The Lons in a Lime Camo. I love this vibrant pattern and I can’t wait to sport these kicks this summer with a pair of denim shorts!
